Where does the produce come from?
Our produce is managed and cultivated by growers from around the world in such locations as Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, and, of course, the United States. All Earth Exotics™ produce is approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) prior to entering the United States; additionally, our growers are approved by our field inspection personnel who oversee planting, growing, and harvesting.
How long will it last once I buy it?
Earth Exotics™ Artisanal Handcrafted Vegetables come with a “Use by Date” on every package. What that means is our product will retain its quality up to that date, provided it is handled properly once purchased. It is important to remember this is a perishable item, so be sure to refrigerate it right away. Once opened, we recommend sealing the bag if the entire product will not be utilized at once; this will ensure the product’s longevity.
How do I handle the product once I have purchased it?
Earth Exotics™ Artisanal Handcrafted Vegetables are packed at the height of freshness to ensure a fresh product is delivered to you and your local grocery store. As is the case with all perishable products, maintaining the “cold chain” is critical to your Earth Exotics™ Artisanal Handcrafted Vegetables’ extended life. We recommend placing Earth Exotics™ Artisanal Handcrafted Vegetables in your refrigerator’s vegetable compartment as quickly as possible after purchase. The ideal temperature to hold these vegetables is between 36 to 45 degrees (2 to 8 degrees Celsius). However, slightly colder temperatures will not harm the product, but it is best to keep them away from the deep freeze.
Can I cook them in the bag?
The short answer is yes, but not necessarily the best way to cook vegetables. The Earth Exotics™ Artisanal Handcrafted Vegetables and the bag they are packed in are both very unique. The technology used to create the packaging allows you to cook the vegetables right in the bag—meaning not only can you microwave the vegetables, but you can also boil them in the bag (You can find Cooking Instructions on the individual product pages).
While these methods may be easy and quick they are not the optimal way to cook high-quality vegetables. Microwaves vary in size and wattage (power). What this means is that all microwaves microwave, but not all microwaves cook at the same. Each Microwave is unique and providing specific cooking instructions for your individual microwave is not possible, we do provide a general set of cooking instructions. Based on how you prefer your Vegetables, al denté or throughly cooked, is a choice you will want to make.
For the best eating experience we recommend roasting, sautéing, or even steaming the vegetables for the best flavor and nutritional benefits. You can find recipes here. You can also find simple cooking instructions on each product page, located below the cooking tab.
